The Ask

i-D is a publication forever rooted in youth culture. Photographer Alex Hodor-Lee dedicated his Summer of 2024 to a deep dive exploration and documentation of New York City teens. The magazine wanted to understand first hand – how are the kids these days doing?

What We Did

SEE ME collaborated closely with Alex, a New York City native himself, over the span of 5 months to support with creative production and talent management, as he passionately undertook street casting and photographing Gen-Z across NYC. Featuring over 150+ individuals, and shooting over 50+ days, we took the reportage style to heart, allowing the story to lead us where we needed to go.

At the crossroads between adolescence and adulthood, this series of work captured the spectrum of life events from proms season, to everyday moments. With time, we heard directly from the teens themselves, and discovered Generation-Z, dubbed the “anxious generation” are doing alright.
